A heavyweight title fight between Russia's Alexander Povetkin and Haitian-born Canadian Bermane Stiverne, scheduled for tonight, was cancelled earlier this week after Povetkin failed a drugs test: he tested positive for the banned muscle-building substance ostarine. The substance was added to the prohibited list
The WBC withdrew recognition of the fight, and Stiverne pulled out of the fight.
Oddly, Povetkin was allowed to fight this weekend anyway, and stepped into the ring to take on a different opponent: Johann Duhaupas, a French fighter who had been on standby.
He knocked him out in the sixth round, and appeared to give him an extra punch for good measure as he fell to the ground.
