Six months after his loss to Jorge Sebastian Heiland in Dublin, Matthew Macklin was back in the ring on Saturday night for a bout with Sandor Micsko in Birmingham. Micsko was a late replacement for Ferenc Albert who pulled out after a training injury sustained during the week.
The change mattered not for Macklin. He made short work of the fight, forcing the referee to halt proceedings after just 1:28 of the second round. Macklin finished his opponent with a powerful body shot after he had obligingly lurched forward, head down, like a bull whose heart was no longer in the battle.
The win takes the nearly 33-year-old Macklin to 32-6 in his career.
