Ireland's newest boxing title holder is from Monaghan.
Christina McMahon won the Interim WBC Bantamweight title by defeating Catherine Phiri in Zambia. She won the fight, held in Lusaka, by decision. The 40-year-old McMahon was undefeated going into the fight, as was her 22-year-old opponent.
'Lightning' is Ireland's only professional female boxer and took up the sport just eight years ago.
Christina “Lightning” McMahon schooled Catherine Phiri. She was way too smart #experience
