Andy Lee Is Eyeing A St. Patrick's Day Title Defence (Possibly In Limerick)

Andy Lee barely had a chance to hold the WBO middleweight belt when thoughts turned to his first defence. During the routine press engagements following his victory over Matt Korobov in the early hours of Sunday morning, Lee was holding nothing back in stating his desire to stage his next fight in Ireland. Now that he's on his way back to Irish soil, that desire is not going anywhere.

Lee was speaking on Off The Ball this evening when he said that having went to Vegas and stopped Korobov, he deserved a home crowd for his first defence.

I think I have earned that and deserved that. Hopefully that will be next, maybe March, St. Patrick's Day. Maybe Thomond Park or the Three Arena in Dublin, somewhere in Ireland and that would be great.

Thomond on Patrick's day would be something. But, if you can't wait that long to see him, the new world champion will be having a public homecoming at Limerick City Hall on Wednesday evening.
