NBA legend Kobe Bryant has passed away after the helicopter he was being carried in crashed in California earlier today.
TMZ report that the 41-year old was amongst the passengers in his private helicopter at the time of the accident, with at least four other people onboard. Emergency services responded but were unable to recover any survivors.

The news was confirmed by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski.

Bryant was one of the most successful NBA players of all-time, having won five NBA championships during a 20-year career. He spent all of his career with the LA Lakers, winning an MVP award in 2008. He retired in 2016.
He ended his playing days on third on the list of NBA top scorers, but was in an incredible coincidence, was overtaken by LeBron James only last night. He has had both of his former numbers, '8' and '24', retired by the Lakers.
