A largescale brawl broke out during a FIBA World Cup qualifier between Australia and the Philippines on Monday.
Australia were lead 79-48 in the third quarter when guard Chris Goulding was knocked to the court by a Philippines player. That appeared to be the spark for all hell to break loose in a game which was already a chippy affair.
Australia Daniel Kickert responded to his teammate being knocked down by elbowing an opposition player in the head. There followed flying punches, flying knees - particularly from Aussie number seven Thon Maker - and even chairs being thrown as the benches of both teams joined the melee.
According to the Australian Daily Telegraph, 13 players in total were ejected from the game - nine from the Philippines and four from Australia.
The action for which everyone actually turned up to watch did continue, briefly, with the game being played 5 v 3.
