Zach Tuohy Geelong Move
The trade sees Tuohy and Billie Smedts swaps clubs. A future Geelong first round draft pick also goes to Carlton while a future second round pick goes from Carlton to Geelong.
The trade was in doubt due to AFL rules and Geelong having last year traded their first round pick in this year's draft. The trading of future first round picks by clubs is restricted. However, the AFL granted Geelong permission to again make a trade.
26-year-old Tuohy, from Portlaoise, joined Carlton in 2010 and has played 120 games for the club. In 2015 the defender was named in the AFL Coaches Association's All-Australian team.
Interestingly, Smedts has played 5 games in 2 years. Tuohy hasn't missed one in 4 years. Blues wanted Lang, Cockatoo. Settled on Smedts

It is a major move up the AFL ladder for Tuohy. Last season, Geelong finished second and Carlton 14th. Geelong eventually lost to Sydney Swans in the preliminary finals.
Tuohy will not be the only Irishman at the club. Yesterday, Mark O'Connor, a two-time minor All-Ireland winner with Kerry confirmed that he is joining the Cats.
