Cora Staunton helped Great Western Sydney Giants to another win today to keep their NAB AFL Women's Grand Final chance alive and well.
Once again Staunton was very impressive as she continues to tear it up down under. This is all the more impressive given speaking to Balls.ie prior to her move, Staunton, confirmed she was the only player with no experience.
I am the only one that’ll be playing next year within the whole AFL who never played before. Alll the girls will have played some element when they were younger. We’ve cricketers, netballers in our team but they have all played it at schools or at some level. I’m the only one in my club that won’t have any idea.
The biggest thing is to learn the kick. It’s a different ball, but you can still shot around the corner. The kick is the biggest thing and probably the tackle. I have an advantage in the tackle from playing rugby, I have an idea. It's probably not the same tackle but it is similar. Look, I know it's going to be a challenge.
It looks like that is a challenge the Mayo woman has mastered, given the superb goal she landed for the Giants on their way to a 6.3 (39) to 3.3 (21) victory.

She turned provider shortly after, with a neat dummy and fisted pass to free Courtney Gum for another goal.
