After over a decade of heartbreak for the Cats, this finally looks like the year that they will capture Gold. Zach Tuohy has been in this position before, when Geelong lost the 2020 AFL Grand final to Richmond 81-50. However, Geelong have found another gear this season, topping the regular season table, eight points ahead of second place Melbourne. Portlaoise native Tuohy has been a key part to their success, consistently impressing and showing no signs of slowing down at 32-years-old.

His teammate Mark O’Connor is unlucky not to start, after a solid display following his appearance as a medical substitute in last week’s preliminary final victory over Brisbane. Should the Irish duo win Saturday’s Grand Final, they will become the first Irish Players to claim glory since Kerry’s Tadhg Kennelly in 2005, when he won the trophy with Saturday’s opponents the Sydney Swans.
Sydney come into the game off the back of a thrilling 95-94 victory in their preliminary final over Collingwood, having finished third in the league campaign.
