This weekend’s AFLW started with a thriller as Aine McDonagh’s goal helped Hawthorn to their second ever AFLW win in a 44-41 over the West Coast Eagles.
Aileen Gilroy put in a huge performance with 15 disposals two behinds and tackles, with Aisling McCarthy making 11 kicks, 14 disposals and five tackles for the Eagles in a huge battle between the sides.

Cora Staunton’s crucial two goals helped the Great Western Sydney Giants responded to their 96-point defeat last weekend with a 29-12 victory over Carlton, with Brid Smith ruled out through injury.
Her former mayo teammate Sarah Rowe scored her first goal of the season and a behind as Collingwood edged past St Kilda 36-34 in the final quarter, with Clara Fitzpatrick featuring for St Kilda.

It was a weekend for opening goals, with Fermanagh’s Joanne Doonan scoring her first ever AFLW goal for Essendon while also making six disposals, but they fell to a heavy 62-18 defeat to Brisbane, with Orla O’Dwyer making 11 disposals and two tackles.
O’Dwyer’s former Tipperary team-mate Megan Ryan two disposals and a jacker for Fremantle.

One player whose goals keep coming is Áine Tighe, who scored her seventh of the season, but it was Sinead Goldrick and Blaithin Mackin who emerged victorious after a strong final quarter gave Melbourne a 66-36 victory over Fremantle, who also featured Orlagh Lally.

The Dublin player had 10 disposals for Melbourne, while Armagh’s Blathain Mackin had nine disposals and a behind.
High margin victories were a theme in this weekend’s fixtures with Irish players impressing in North Melbourne’s highest ever AFLW victory with a 67-1 win over the Sydney Swans.
While her goalscoring run didn’t continue, Vicki Wall still impressed as she registered a behind, 10 disposals and five tackles for North Melbourne, while Erika O’Shea had eight disposals and three tackles.
