For many, the men's 100m final has come to represent the pinnacle of athleticism with the likes of Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin the faces of it. Bolt has attracted headlines and global attention since bursting onto the scene in 2008 when he set a new 100m world record before going on to crush all competition in the Beijing Olympics.
Eight years later and the world watches as an Olympic great prepares for his final Olympic outing. Not only that, he's aiming to be the first man the win 3 back to back 100m golds. If he wants to do that he'll presumably have to beat Justin Gatlin, the fastest man in the world this year. The other six in the final will be fairly fast too...
When is the Men's 100m Final?
So when is the Men's 100m final? Well you may break out the coffee and Red Bulls people because it's on Monday 15th of August at 02:25am. Yeah, not so nice.
But look, half of us stay up late twice a year to watch Conor McGregor fight so we can stay up for this considering the 100m final happens once every 4 years.
But before we can get to the final there are a few races to be run. The preliminary heats take place on Saturday 13th August at 5-minute intervals from 13:30 to 13:45. Round 1 heats begin on the same day at 16:00 with the final heat kicking off at 16:36. The semi-finals start on Monday 15th at 01:00am.
