Less than a year after breaking Michael Johnson's 400m world record, Wayde van Niekerk has taken another all-time mark from the American.
At the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting on Wednesday evening, the South African beat Johnson's 17-year-old 300m world record.
Van Niekerk ran a time of 30.81 for the rarely run distance, beating Johnson's time of 30.85 set in Pretoria back in March 2000.

The South African, whose previous best for 300m was 31.03, added to his incredible list of times between the 100m to 400m distances.
Last week he set a new personal best of 9.94 for 100m. That was on top of his 19.84 for 200m and his 400m world record mark of 43.03.
Strangely, the BBC commentator for the race failed to recognise that 24-year-old had set another world record, instead focusing on his breaking of Usain Bolt's meeting record for the distance.
10 minutes have passed since Wayde van Niekerk's race and the Beeb commentator still hasn't mentioned that it's a world best.

On Wednesday, Van Niekerk undoubtedly furthered his claim to being the best athlete in the world right now.
