Form Guide
Rhasidat Adeleke is without a doubt one of, if not Ireland's most promising athletes. At just twenty years of age, Adeleke holds six national records and had reached the pinnacle of US collegiate athletics after her NCAA win in the 400m outdoors. However, just last week Adeleke announced she was going professional and Friday night will be just her second outing at that level.
Tuesday night saw Adeleke make her professional debut where she defied the odds to finish second in the 200m running event in Hungary just shy of breaking her own 200m record. Despite having much slower personal bests than much of the field it was her racing ability that made a statement and all eyes will be on the Tallaght native as she heads to Monaco on Friday.
Despite making her debut in the 200m Rhasidat Adeleke is more specialised in the 400m, which she'll be racing in on Friday night. As she takes to the track in her Diamond League debut, she will be the second-fastest runner out of her eight competitors with a PB of 49.20. However, it will be her first time taking on American Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone a two-time Olympic gold medalist.
To win on Friday night only Adeleke's best will be enough, but it's only her second professional race and for a twenty-year-old Irish runner that is an amazing feat.
