In a tactical race in Amsterdam, Ciara Mageean won bronze in the 1500m for Ireland.
As Mageean was congratulated post-race, there was a look of slight disappointment on her face. It was also disappointment which she expressed in an interview with RTE. The reason: she was just .02 of a second away from a silver medal.
As the County Down runner chased down the opposition in the final straight, the line came just a moment too soon for her to claim the silver.
The race was won by Angelika Cichocka of Poland with Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands just pipping Mageean to the silver medal.
