A week after running his season best, Thomas Barr stormed to his eighth national title with a championship best time of 49.58.
Barr looks to be coming into form at precisely the right time as he approaches the European Championships in Berlin next month. He recently told Balls.ie a podium finish is the goal for that event:
If I was to win a medal this year, it would be hard fought - it's not a soft year. I want to be challenging for a medal. I've been promising it long enough.
Today was very much business as usual as the 26-year-old blitzed the field to cruise home well ahead of Paul Byrne, who finished in second place.
