Usain Bolt broke the world record for the seldom-run 100 metres indoor today, under the closed roof of Warsaw's National Stadium. The previous record had stood since 1996 and was held by 1990's nearly man Frankie Fredericks of Namibia with his time of 10.05. Now that's a name you didn't expect to see today, isn't it?

His time of 9.98 seems quite slow for a 100 metres record these days, but one has to consider the rare nature of such a race and the difference between running on a tartan track in spikes and doing the same distance flat-soled on the boards.
