Thomas Barr's season continued to progress nicely on Saturday at the Diamond League meeting in London.
The Waterford man ran a season's best of 48.99 as he finished third in the 400m hurdles behind world champion Karsten Warholm and world silver medalist Yasmani Copello.
Barr's previous best run this year had been 11 days prior in Lucerne where he won in 49.10
Another step forward today, and I didn’t get the norovirus. Great success! Thanks for all the kind messages, looking forward to another few key sessions before #berlin2018 pic.twitter.com/CPPRwliDwH

With the European Championships in Berlin just a fortnight away, it certainly bodes well for Barr's medal chances. The 25-year-old is now the fifth fastest man in Europe this season.
It was a remarkably quick race in London. Norwegian Warholm passed the line in 47.65 to set a new meeting record, a new personal best and a new national record.
