Over the weekend, Thomas Barr ran what he called a 49.39 'cobweb shaker' in Geneva. On Thursday night in Oslo, he blew the cobwebs off.
His performance in the 400m hurdles at the Diamond League meeting was good enough to secure qualification for the World Championships in August.
Barr finished third in a star-studded field. The quick finishing Waterford man ran an encouraging season's best time of 48.95 from lane one. Though, that is nearly a second slower than his personal best of 47.97.
Thanks for all the messages folks, Much appreciated! 48.95 for 3rd, and World Champs qualifier in the bag. 2017 season is well underway 👌🏻👌🏻

The race, which was won by home favourite Karsten Warholm, also featured Olympic champion Kerron Clement and Olympic bronze medalist Yasmani Copello. 2011 World Championship bronze medalist LJ van Zyl was also in the field.
After setting out quickly, Clement made an error as he rounded for the home straight which cost him the win.
The 21-year-old Warholm won the race in a Norwegian national record of 48.25.
