An official caused chaos in a men's 1500m race in California on Friday.
As Pat McGregor led the way at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, an official casually wandered across the track, unaware that a field of runners was moving ever closer.
He would end up taking a number of athletes out of the race, including British runner Michael Rimmer.

Three runners would end up not finishing the race, including McGregor, Rimmer and Blake Haney while it would eventually be won by Oklahoma State's Joshua Thompson.
