Brian Fay, Sarah Lavin and Sophie O'Sullivan all had a night to remember at the Palio Citta' della Quercia meeting in Rovereto, Italy on Wednesday.
O'Sullivan broke Sarah Healy's Irish U23 3000m record by just under two seconds, running 8:44.72 as she finished second behind Wubrist Aschal of Ethiopia.
The time also puts her third on the all-time Irish list, just a second behind Mary Cullen, and 23 seconds behind her mother Sonia's 29-year-old national record of 8:21.64.

In the men's 3000m, Fay smashed his personal best, running 7:36.89 as he finished second behind American Grant Fisher. The time moves the Raheny Shamrocks athlete to third on the all-time Irish list behind Alistair Cragg in second and Mark Carroll's national record of 7:30.36.

Lavin continued her remarkable form by winning the 100m hurdles. The Limerick sprinter ran 12.76 as she finished ahead of Jamaican Amoi Brown and American Taliyah Brooks.
On Monday evening, Lavin broke Phil Healy's Irish 100m record when she ran 11.27 in Switzerland. That added to the new Irish 100m hurdles record of 12.62 which she had set at the World Championships in Budapest last month.
