Reece Ademola and Sarah Lavin both finished third in their events at the Czech Indoor Gala in Ostrava on Tuesday. The meeting was part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold series of events.
Ademola extended his Irish U23 indoor record to 7.93m for the long jump. The Corkman, competing in his Leevale AC singlet, leapt to his best effort in the opening round.
He finished behind the Czech Republic's Radek Juska (8.03m) in second and winner Miltiádis Tentóglou of Greece (8.09m). Tentóglou is the reigning world and Olympic champion.
Ademola, who stands at 6' 9" and turns 21 this week, had jumped 7.86m in Denmark last week to set a new Irish U23 record.
Tuesday's jump puts him third on the all-time Irish indoor long jump list behind Adam McMullen's 7.99m and Ciaran McDonagh's national record of 8.00m. Ademola's outdoor personal best is the 7.97m he jumped in September.
