Paddy Power knows his way around a publicity stunt, but dealing with London Olympics and their uptight etiquette enforcers LOCOG must be like manna from heaven. The hated brand police behind LOCOG want JC Decaux to take the above advertising down since the IOC has rules against bookies being linked to the Games. Paddy Power have launched a case against taking the ad down, as, in a literal sense, it doesn't refer to the London Olympics. As usual from a bookie's perspective, it's win-win for Paddy Power: the ad will now appear in every website and newspaper in Britain, Ireland and beyond until the matter is resolved. If the court strikes down the sign, public sympathies for Paddy Power will only skyrocket in line with disgust for LOCOG's continued repression of expression. Win and their ad stays in a very prominent place in a London train station. The stupid thing is that LOCOG took the bait.
