Niamh McCarthy claimed Ireland's first medal of the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old won bronze in the F41 discus.
McCarthy threw 29.70m with her fourth attempt of the competition as she finished behind Morocco's Youssra Karim in second and winner Raoua Tlili of Tunisia.
Silver medallist Karim threw 33.59m and gold medallist Tlili 34.48m.
The Cork woman won gold for Ireland at last year's European Championship and silver two years ago at the World Championships in London. She also won silver at the 2016 Paralympics.
Many of Ireland's big names are yet to compete at the Championships. High jumper Jordan Lee, currently ranked number two in the world, goes tomorrow as does Paralympic legend Jason Smyth.
Middle distance runners Greta Streimikyte and Michael McKillop compete on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
