Mark English has smashed the Irish indoor 800m record this afternoon, coming out on top in Abbotstown.
The Donegal native would finish the race in a time of 1:46:10, taking over half a second off the previous mark he set in 2014.
He was pushed all the way by 18-year old Longford man Cian McPhillips, whose mark of 1:46:13 took 2.5 seconds off English's national U20 record.

Both men were well inside the European indoor standard with that time, while third placed finisher John Fitzsimons also got within that mark.
This is not the only Irish indoor record broken in recent times, with Nadia Power breaking the female indoor 800m record in Vienna a few weeks ago.
