17-year-old Erriyon Knighton ran an incredible 20.11 for 200m at a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting in Jacksonville, Florida on Monday.

The time, ran at the Duval County Challenge, took 0.02 of the previous world best which was set by 200m world record holder Usain Bolt in 2003.

While setting the new mark, Knighton also beat a top class field which featured 2018 European 100m champion Zharnel Hughes of Great Britain 2016 world indoor 60m champion Trayvon Bromell of the US. Hughes's fellow Brit, Adam Gemili, who won 200m gold at the 2014 European Championships, finished fifth in the race.

Knighton, who is from Tampa, turned professional earlier this year. His previous personal best for 200m had been 20.30.

"I've definitely got to respect them, top of the world," Knighton said after his victory.

"But I feel like I brought my A game today."

Last month, Knighton ran 9.99 for 100m. Though, the wind of 2.7m/s was over the legal limit.
