Erriyon Knighton smashed his own U20 200m world record and became the fourth fastest man ever over the distance with a sensational performance at the LSU Invitational meeting on Saturday.

The 18-year-old ran an incredible 19.49 to win the race in Baton Rouge and take 0.35 off the world record which he set last year.

Only Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, and Michael Johnson have run a faster 200m time. It is also the eighth fastest 200m ever run, and the fastest time over the distance since the 2012 Olympic Games.

Knighton finished fourth in the 200m at the Olympics last year. He was the youngest American track Olympian in 57 years.
