Ciara Mageean and Brian Fay have both been included in the entry lists for this year's Diamond League final in Eugene, Oregon. The meeting doubles as the Prefontaine Classic.
Mageean goes in the 1500m at 8:51pm Irish time on Saturday night while Fay will line up in the 3000m at 9:17pm on Sunday night.
The majority of athletes running at Hayward Field this weekend qualified for their final by earning points at the 13 meetings held over the past five months.
In the 1500m, Mageean will face many of the athletes against whom she lined up in last month's world final in Budapest, a race in which she finished fourth.
Those include Faith Kipyegon, who won gold, and Dribe Welteji, who claimed silver, along with Laura Muir who edged out Mageean in last week's Diamond League meeting in Brussels. Though she was beaten in Belgium, Mageean did lower her Irish 1500m record to 3:55.87.
In the 3000m, Fay - who broke the Irish 5000m record earlier this summer - will face world 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Selemon Barega, who claimed bronze in the 10,000m in Budapest.
Last week, Fay smashed his personal best in the 3000m, running 7:36.89 as he finished second behind American Grant Fisher, who will also line up in Eugene. He is now the third-fastest Irishman ever over the distance behind Alistair Cragg and Mark Carroll
