Ciara Mageean finished tenth in an incredibly fast 1500m final at the World Athletics Championships in Doha on Saturday evening.
The 27-year-old from Portaferry, Co. Down broke her personal best by more than a second, running 4:00.15.
The race was won by the Alberto Salazar-coached Sifan Hassan. Salazar was earlier this week banned from athletics for four years due to doping violations. Hassan's victory completed a unique 1500m and 10,000m double, a feat no one had previously achieved at a World Championships.
In a change of tactics, Hassan hit the front early, running the field both into the ground and to multiple PBs and national records.
The Dutch athlete finished in 3:51.95, a championship record and the sixth fastest time ever for the distance.
The run completes the best season of Mageean's career. The personal best which she broke on Saturday evening had been set earlier this year in Monaco.
