Alex Wright has qualified for the 20km walk at the next year's Olympic Games.
The 28-year-old Leevale athlete set a new personal best of 1:20.50 at the Gran Premio Cantones de La Coruna. The event was the Spanish leg of the 2019 IAAF Race Walking Challenge.
On what was a perfect day for racewalking, Wright finished 17th overall and ten seconds under the qualifying standard.
Wright joins Brendan Boyce in qualifying for Tokyo. The 32-year-old Donegal man set a new personal best for the 50km walk last month at European Race Walking Championships.
