Four months ago, a number of underage Irish basketballers were subjected to vile racist abuse online.
The messages were posted on the controversial ask.fm website and was targeted at members of the Irish under 15 basketball squad. To give you an idea as to the ferocity of the abuse, one post read: "F**k off back to your own country yous n****rs and c***y b*****ds yous are not even Irish and yous are taking the real Irish people’s place on the squad".
Such was the ferocity of the abuse, Basketball Ireland reported the abuse to the Gardaí.
One of the players at whom the abuse was targeted was Sean Jenkins.
Jenkins turned 16 in September, and has since starred for BFG Neptune at Under-18 and Under-20 finals held less that 24 hours apart.
It is an historic achievement: it is the first time ever that a club has held both titles at the same times.
Jenkins was central to the victories, earning MVP in both games.
In the Under 18 final on Saturday Jenkins scored 23 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists, and followed that up with a 26 point showing in the Under 20 final.

A fantastic response by Jenkins, and a name to watch out for in the future.
