The NFL Playoffs are in full motion over in the US right now as the wild card round finishes tonight with the Los Angeles Rams taking on the Arizona Cardinals. There was a lot of serious American football played, but last night's matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers was fun and surreal for some young viewers.
The game was aired on US kids channel Nickelodeon, home of some classic shows from our childhood like Spongebob Squarepants, Hey Arnold!, and Drake & Josh. This meant plenty of references to their kids shows and a lot of slime thanks to the use of augmented reality.

The slime came out at any given opportunity, especially when there was a touchdown.

This is the second NFL game to be aired on Nickelodeon after last year's Wildcard round playoff game between the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears. This came around after the re-merger of CBS and Viacom to add all Nickelodeon content onto CBS and to have a children-targeted broadcast of a NFL game every season.
The light-hearted nature of the broadcast went down as a crowd favourite online last year and it has been met with plaudits again this year with many calling for Nickelodeon to show even more games.

Nickelodeon even managed to get NFL Hall of Famer and all-time great Deion Sanders to partake in the fun, having a chat with Spongebob and Patrick Star.
.@DeionSanders has agreed...
He's no longer Prime Time. He's SLIME TIME. 😂 #NickWildCard

The star of the show was Dylan Gilmer, the star of the show Young Dylan who conducted a post match interview with 49ers receiver/running back Deebo Samuels which was a brilliantly wholesome watch.
