Number one in the Eastern Conference vs number one in the Western Conference and perhaps more interestingly, LeBron James vs Steph Curry. It was looking very shaky for the Golden State Warriors quite a few times over the past week but the Finals that this year's NBA season deserve are now a reality.
For the second time in a row, it's the Warriors against the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals and with the Warriors regular season form and the Cavs play-off form, it promises to be an absolute classic. When you add in the fact that LeBron is reaching boiling point and Curry appears to be over the injury troubles that threatened to bring a premature end to one of the greatest individual seasons you're ever likely to see and it's easy to see why anticipation is so high for this final series.
But it could, and perhaps should have been so different. Oklahoma led the Warriors 3-1 during the Conference Finals but sure enough Curry and co. tied things up at 3-3 to turn things into a winner takes all clash in Oakland on Monday night.
A lot has been made of Curry's injury problems and it would be fair to say that from his own high standards, he hadn't exactly lit up the series. Until last night that is. With the Thunder maintaining a decent lead through to the mid-way point, the Warriors really turned on the style in the third quarter, eventually running out 96-88 winners to set up that final series with the Cavs. And just in case there was any doubt about Curry's fitness, we'll leave you with this absolutely glorious 3-pointer that well and truly sent the Warriors on their way to another showdown with LeBron and the Cavs.
