NFL seems to be growing in popularity in Ireland each year, whether the possibility of stars from the Emerald Isle making it in the game has had an effect remains to be seen. The appetite to host a game in the capital is growing as time passes.
However, fans hopes received a boost as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell provided a positive update when speaking at an official event in the UK. The NFL has been expanding it's global presence in recent years with regular season games being played all around the world.

I know the Steelers really want to go there (Dublin). I have no doubt we will be playing in Ireland. I don't know if it'll be next year but it's coming soon.
Sao Paulo, London and Munich have been confirmed as host's for matches in 2024 with more cities to follow in the coming years with the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid confirmed to host a game next season.

Plans for NFL Dublin game given boost
Director of Business Development and Strategy for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Daniel Rooney discussed the possibility of an NFL International Game in Ireland and has been quoted saying it's a goal of his. Speaking to BBC reporters, Rooney said:
It's been a goal from the start, being able to pursue an opportunity to play a live game in front of the Irish fans, we are working with the NFL on that and we're looking forward to seeing what's coming
Having held an event in Croke Park last year in which the Steelers enlisted the help of some major figures from the world of Irish sport, including Kerry Footballer Paudie Clifford, Irish rugby international and Dublin footballer Hannah Tyrrell and ex-Dublin footballer Mossy Quinn.
Signs of an NFL match scheduled on theses shores in the coming years is looking very positive at the moment.
