There are few greater pleasures than a good sports documentary. A healthy combination of drama, entertainment and sporting prowess is difficult to strike but makes for extraordinary TV when found. One of the greatest examples of this is Netflix's 'Last Chance U' and it is coming back this Friday, July 20.
'Last Chance U' is a Netflix Original series that has developed a real cult-following for its emotional and hard-hitting portrayal of the struggles of various young American football hopefuls with troubled pasts as they attempt to make one last push for elite-level college football. For two seasons it captured viewers' hearts and minds as Buddy Stephens, Brittany Wagner and John Franklin III lit up screens around the globe.
However, instead of the familar cast from East Mississippi Community College, where the first two seasons were set, this season chronicles a different school. Independence Community College in Kansas will provide the setting this time around.
Independence is a small rural Kansas town with a population of just over 8,000 people. Unlike EMCC, Independence Community College are traditionally at the bottom of the conference.
This season of Last Chance U goes to the hometowns of several players as well as tracking the progression of the team. Netflix released a trailer last month.
The new series drops on Friday, so clear your weekend for some enjoyable binge-watching.
