Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler, the legendary pro wrestler and WWE commentator, has been suspended indefinitely by WWE and is behind bars this morning after he and his girlfriend were both arrested for domestic violence late last night.
A statement just posted on the WWE website stated:
Jerry Lawler was arrested at his home Friday morning by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office in Memphis, Tenn.
According to a police report, Lawler and his girlfriend, Lauryn McBride, were taken into custody and booked on alleged charges of domestic assault – bodily harm, a misdemeanour.
WWE has a zero tolerance for matters involving domestic violence and, per our policy, Jerry Lawler has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest.
The 66-year-old and his 27-year-old fiancée Lauryn McBride got into a violent altercation which involved a gun, according to reports filtering out of the US.
McBride alleges that Lawler held her against a countertop and hit her, before placing a gun on the table and saying, “go ahead and kill yourself.”

The reports continue to allege that Lawler said the confrontation began when McBride refused to tell him where she had been before scratching him and throwing a candle at him before kicking him in the groin.
The wrestler also claimed that McBride was drunk and threatening to kill herself.
Police arrested both Lawler and McBride after being unable to determine who was responsible for the incident.
This isn’t Jerry Lawler’s first brush with the law either, after being arrested in 1999 for throwing a speeding ticket at a police officer and running over his foot.
