It's a sign of the times that sportsplayers are now checking their phones during games. That's what caught baseball star Pablo Sandoval out as he was dropped from the Boston Red Sox starting team after getting caught using his phone during a game.
The former World Series MVP was caught liking a photo on instagram while he took a bathroom break during the Red Sox loss on Wednesday night.
I made a mistake. I learned from that. I’m a human being. I made a mistake so I apologise to my team-mates, to the team, to the organisation.
Sandoval faces further punishment from the MLB who forbid "uniformed personnel, clubhouse staff and equipment staff" from using any mobile devices immediately before, during or after games.
The price of technology is steep for some sportspeople.
