The story of this year's NFL draft was undoubtedly Shaquem Griffin who became the first one-handed player to be drafted by an NFL team. The Seattle Seahawks selected Griffin in the fifth round on Saturday.

The UCF edge rusher had his hand amputated when he was just four but was a star college player and is set to join up with his twin brother Shaquill, who was drafted last year.

Griffin first garnered national attention when he ran the quickest 40m dash since 2003 at the NFL combine last March. As a child, he was told he would never make the NFL yet has always maintained nobody would tell him what he can't do.

It is not only on the field that Griffin proved himself to the franchise. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll was full of praise for his interview prior to the pick:

I don’t know if I’ve ever been in a more inspirational interview that we do at the combine than that one. He was just so expressive and so open to tell his story.

Griffin not only looks an outstanding player, but his philosophy and attitude should see the 22-year-old establish himself as a fan favourite in Seattle.
