Yesterday, the LA Lakers hunt for an elusive threepeat was derailed in ignominious fashion, as they were completely destroyed by the Dallas Mavericks, who swept their Western Conference Semifinal. Sensing the end of the line, two Lakers players got ejected for unseemly fouls in the fourth quarter. Lakers coach Phil Jackson, who has nearly as many titles as he has fingers, watched it all from the sideline, knowing it was his last game. It's a bit like Rooney and Ferdinand getting sent-off in Ferguson's swan song. Ugly stuff.
