To promote the upcoming NHL playoffs, The NHL got together with its broadcast partner NBC to build a 21-foot-tall, 6,600-pound Stanley cup in the heart of Times Square. As an added feature passersby can drink from the Stanley cup as it is a fountain aswell. Imagine if the GAA did something similar with the Sam Maguire or Liam McCarthy cup in Dublin? They could get rid of the sprie and put both those two cups there instead, atleast they have some meaning. You can check out the Stanley Cup fountain in action here.
