The 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic takes place at the Aviva Stadium for another year this August as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets get their season underway against the Florida State Seminoles.

The annual game is approaching its fifth edition, and has been responsible for bringing an authentic American sports experience right here on Irish soil, with large scale pre-game tailgates, marching bands, and for 2024, an episode of ESPN's College Gameday preview programme will be broadcast in Dublin.

Amazingly, there will be Irish representation on the field itself, as Georgia Tech's punter David Shanahan is a Kerry native, hailing from the town of Castleisland. Shanahan even represented the Kingdom at the under-17s level.

As Shanahan reaches his senior year with the Yellow Jackets, he was asked whether he prefers Ireland or the US in food and music round of 'This or That', in collaboration with Clayton Hotels, the official hotel partner of the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

David Shanahan makes bold picks in 'This or That' quiz

Shanahan was first put through his paces in a food round where he had to pick between staples of Irish and American cuisine. For chocolate, the Kerryman prefers a bar of Cadburys over Hersheys, which garnered a good reaction from the Irish audience.

The next answer did not however, as Shanahan picked Wendy's over Supermacs in the battle of the fast-food chains. The answer was jokingly labelled 'controversial' from a member of the production team.

The punter came back to his Irish roots as he confirmed that prefers Today's Bread, Today, as he chose Brennan's over the American Wonder Bread.

A music round then followed where he picked Dublin's Dermot Kennedy over Canadian popstar Justin Bieber. Shanahan then showed us he's a Swiftie as he chose Taylor Swift over Lyra.

It took Shanahan a moment to decide between Niall Horan and Eminem, but ultimately he chose the 'Lose Yourself' rapper over the 'This Town' singer.

If you're in need of a hotel for the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic on August 24th, then look no further as Clayton Hotels is the official hotel partner of the event.
