One of Ireland's most exciting sporting events returns to the Aviva Stadium this August, as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets face the Florida State Seminoles in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic 2024.

The Yellow Jackets and Seminoles will play out the fifth edition of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic. It's not the Rambling Wreck's first trip to Ireland: they defeated Boston College at the Aviva Stadium 17-14 in 2016.

The event has allowed people in Ireland to get a proper American football experience, with everything from live bands with cheerleaders to large-scale pre-game tailgates coming to Dublin.

The experience will be further authenticated this year as ESPN's iconic College Gameday pre-game programme will set up shop in Dublin 4 for the game.

Amazingly, the 2024 edition of the game will feature an Irish kicker. Georgia Tech punter and Kerry native David Shanahan stars for the Yellow Jackets.

Ahead of this August's game, he gave his thoughts on his ideal hotel stay, in collaboration with Clayton Hotels, the official hotel partner of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

David Shanahan Reveals His Ideal Hotel Stay

Shanahan was put through his paces with a quick-fire questionnaire on what his ideal hotel stay would be.

From the answers given, the Kerryman enjoys getting out and about with a detailed itinerary, and indulging in culinary delights at the hotel restaurant.

Shanahan describes himself as a night owl rather than an early bird, picking an active weekend over a spa break and choosing live bar entertainment over film-watching in the room.

He'll be hoping that the Irish public have a similarly active energy in supporting his Georgia Tech team at the Aviva Stadium on August 24th, with kick-off scheduled for 5pm.

If you're considering a hotel stay for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic then look no further, as Clayton Hotels are the official hotel partner of the event.
