American football action returns to Dublin this August as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Florida State Seminoles are due to face each other at the Aviva Stadium in the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

The event gives people in Ireland a chance to experience an authentic American sports gameday right on their doorstep with pre-game tailgating, marching bands, cheer squads, and for the first time ever, a visit for ESPN's preview programme College Gameday.

The fifth edition of the classic will be Georgia Tech's second game at the Aviva Stadium, having beaten Boston College 17-14 in Dublin 4 in 2016.

This time though, an Irishman will travel from Atlanta to play in the game, as Georgia Tech's punter David Shanahan is a Kerry native.

Ahead of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, Shanahan chose between a number of activities centred around locations with Clayton Hotels, the official hotel partner of the event.

David Shanahan chooses what he would do around Clayton Hotels locations

Shanahan was asked to pick between two activity choices relating to Clayton Hotels 14 Irish locations.

In his answers, Shanahan showed that he prefers to get out and active as he chose a hike up in Benbulbin on a nice day in Sligo rather than a gig at the RDS, which is a stone's throw from Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge. This was further proven as he chose diving into the sea in Salthill, near Clayton Hotel Galway, over plane watching at Dublin Airport.

The punter also seemingly is a food lover, as he chose having fresh strawberries in Wexford over a day out shopping on Grafton Street in Dublin City. Shanahan also chose fresh Wexford strawberries over a hike in Benbulbin, so Clayton Whites Hotel would be a fantastic place for him to stay.

Shanahan is unsurprisingly more of a sports lover, as he would pick a match in Aviva Stadium by Ballsbridge rather than a show in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre. The punter will be hoping people choose the same as him on August 24th as he stars for Georgia Tech in the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic.

If you're considering a hotel stay for the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic then look no further, as Clayton Hotels is the official hotel partner of the event.
