Wrestling World Pays Tribute To 'Golden Voice' Gene Okerlund

The wrestling world is in mourning today after renowned interviewer and WWE Hall of Famer Gene Okerlund passed away at the age of 76.

“Mean Gene” begun his career in the American Wrestling Association before switching to WWE. He was a constant presence as the organisation burst into American sporting consciousness with iconic spars with “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Hulk Hogan.

As the company grew so to did Okerlund's presence as he soon started providing ringside commentary and hosting several shows.

The WWE released a public statement offering its condolences while various wrestling figures also paid tribute.
