Last night the WWE held its first draft since 2011. The organisation is again attempting a brand extension with Raw and Smackdown having separate rosters and champions.
Three Irish fighters were selected in last night's draft.
Most notably, Finn Balor was selected as the fifth overall pick. He was chosen before the likes of John Cena and Brock Lesnar.
Balor, whose real name is Fergal Devitt, is from Bray. He made a name for himself in Japan before eventually joining the WWE's development branch NXT just over two years ago.
Raw GM Mick Foley described the pick of Balor as the brand keeping 'an eye towards the future'.
Speaking to the WWE Network after his selection, Balor was aggrieved about one thing.
The only thing about being picked number five is that there were four other people picked ahead of me. I'm going to prove to everybody that I should have been the number one pick.
The other two Irish fighters selected were Becky Lynch and Sheamus.
Lynch was selected 14th overall as Smackdown's first choice for their women's roster. Lynch, real name Rebecca Quinn, joined NXT in 2013 and then became part of the main roster in July of last year.
Ireland's most established wrestler, Sheamus, was selected well down the draft in the sixth round at number 30 overall.
Here's how the first three rounds of the draft went.
