College football is making its return to Dublin this weekend, with thousands of fans flying across the Atlantic to take in the Aer Lingus American College Football Classic match between Florida State and Georgia Tech at the Aviva on Saturday evening.

This event has become a staple in the Irish sporting calendar in recent times, with Dublin coming to standstill on each occasion. This year, parts of the city centre will even be closed off to facilitate a pre-match event, with Dame Street being closed in order to host fans.

As this fixture has become an increasingly big deal in Ireland, it has also garnered a lot more attention in the USA itself. Quite a few American broadcasters have made the trip to Dublin to cover the festivities, with ESPN staple College GameDay being broadcast live from College Green this afternoon.

In fact, they already began broadcasting from Dublin last night to fairly hilarious results.

Pat McAfee is one of the biggest names in American sports broadcasting, with The Pat McAfee Show being one of the most popular online sports shows in the country.

McAfee opted to do a live show from Dublin last night, with the broadcast coming from JR Mahon's Pub. It's fair to say that things got interesting.

Right from the outset, McAfee made it clear that he intended to make the most of the venue by indulging in some of the local offerings.

It did not take long for the beverages to take effect.

An interesting approach to live television.

It seemed as though there wasn't a pint of stout that was safe in the venue throughout the show.

There were also some unexpected guests on the broadcast.

That included WWE superstar and Dubliner Sheamus, who would go on to hit the host a few slaps.

Quality stuff.

Some on social media have suggested that ESPN cut away from the live feed of the show on a number of occasions, and while it is unclear if this was the case, you could understand their hesitancy to broadcast the full events from the Dublin pub.
