It's a box office signing and potentially a match made in heaven - Cam Newton is a Patriot.
The New England Patriots have signed the 2015 NFL MVP on a one year deal as they look to replace Tom Brady. The 31-year-old was a free agent, having left the Carolina Panthers in March after a season blighted by injury.
Newton reacted to the deal on his Instagram story, saying "I'm excited as I don't know what right now!! All praise to God!! Dropping content tomorrow!! I hope you're ready. #LetsGoPats"

The one-year deal is reportedly worth up to $7.5 million and Newton will have to battle it out with Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer for a starting spot.

It's been a busy Sunday night for the Patriots, with news that they've also been handed a $1.1m fine and docked a third round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft following an investigation into their TV crew filming at a Bengals v Browns match last season.
Their production crew is now also banned from filming games across the upcoming season.
