"Hi, I'm Johnny Knoxville, welcome to Jackass!"
If you were one of the lucky ones in Ireland who had access to "the channels" at the turn of the millennium, then you no doubt uttered those words as you did something incredibly stupid which you would probably later regret.
Jackass was a phenomenon, and Ireland loved it, whether it was kidnapping Brad Pitt, or watching Steve-O do something incredibly painful involving his nether-regions, the viewers kept coming back week after week, and whether you were attempting to recreate the stunts or activities that were performed on the show, or not, likely you were clearly asked to, everybody has a few favourite skits that they'll always remember.
We at Balls.ie obviously have an appreciation for the sporting moments that were featured, and have dug-up five crackers from the glory-days, before the movies, when it was literally just a bunch of crazy fellas and a few camcorders.
Jai Alai
OUCH.
Most viewers introduction to the ridiculously dangerous sport of Jai Alai, this one was difficult to watch at times, especially when they showed you the damage that was done.
Football Follies
Or "Absolutely smashing each other while wearing American football gear in public places.
Very painful looking, highly entertaining. Like most of 'Jackass' to be fair.
The Loop
Skateboarding was really taking off at the time, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was one of the most popular games around, so this was as cool as TV could possibly get at the time.
Again, so, so painful.
Department Store Boxing
Butterbean became a household name over here after he gleefully accepted the chance to batter Johnny Knoxville in public locations.
One of the countless skits where somebody probably got in some serious trouble when the camera stopped rolling.
Golf Course Airhorn
Outrageously rude, and literally the opposite of everything that the game of golf stands for, perhaps that's why this was so enjoyable.
Could you imagine the fury if someone did this while you were teeing off?
It had a good run, and left a lot of good memories for young Irish lads who stayed up late to watch something they weren't allowed to be watching.
Jackass in the glory days was magnificent.
