New footage has emerged of the incident between Ray Rice and his then fiancée (now wife, somehow) Janay Palmer in which the Baltimore Ravens running back delivers a full-force left hook to knock Palmer out cold.
Having previously not known exactly what happened, due to the only released footage being of Ray Rice dragging Palmer's unconscious body out of an elevator, it is now clear that a savage act of domestic violence has received a shockingly light punishment.
Initially charges were brought on both parties for assault, then Palmer's were dropped while Rice's were upped to third-degree aggravated assault. The verdict of Ray Rice's trial were that he had to participate in a diversionary program for one year, where his charges would be dropped upon completion.
Even more baffling is the NFL's decision to slap Ray Rice with a whopping two game ban. Two games. Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was initially given a one-year ban for testing positive for marijuana (though he may play this season), yet Ray Rice KO's his fiancée ala Mike Tyson and gets a two-game ban? Where is the sense in that?
Now that everyone knows exactly what happened in that lift, tweets like the one below look all the more ridiculous:
Janay Rice says she deeply regrets the role that she played the night of the incident.

The footage is available on TMZ if you want to see it, but it doesn't make for pretty viewing.
