Earlier this morning we had the news emerging from France that Grenoble are making moves to convince Paul O'Connell to head to the Top 14 following the World Cup at the end of the year. The fact that O'Connell is contracted to the IRFU until June 2016 is the main barrier to that happening but it seems like it's a non-starter anyway if you believe Bernard Jackman.

The Grenoble coach, and former Ireland teammate of O'Connell, has responded to those rumours and he hasn't exactly said it's not happening but his response would suggest that it is unlikely.

Irish youngsters Denis Coulson, Chris Farrell and James Hart are already part of Jackman's squad. However, it seems unlikely that O'Connell will join them, even if Jackman's response is enough to keep us wondering if there is something going on behind the scenes.
