There was jubilation today on the rugby circuit following the announcement that the women's team will now be able to avail of some of the services in the Irish Rugby Union Players Association.
The IRUPA Player Development Programme will now incorporate the women's 15 squad and recognises them as high performance athletes. This programme will allow the players to pursue educational, vocational and personal development opportunities as well as the option of obtaining scholarships.
Ireland international Niamh Briggs is delighted with the announcement.
